Vehicles snatched off Birmingham streets

Birmingham police reported they had received vehicle theft reports, one in the 800 block of Smith Avenue on Wednesday, May 25, the other in the 100 block of Lincoln Street on Thursday, May 26.


Around 9:15 a.m. May 25, an officer was dispatched to the 800 block of Smith Avenue, where a 40-year-old male stated that the vehicle was parked overnight on the street in front of his residence. He could not remember if the vehicle was locked or if the keys were in the vehicle.


The officer did not observe any broken glass or debris in the area where the vehicle had been parked.


On May 26, around 8:45 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Lincoln Street, where a 47-year-old male and a 43-year-old female reported their vehicle had been parked overnight on the street. They stated the vehicle was locked and both sets of keys had been in their possession.


Birmingham police report there are no witnesses or suspects at this time in either case.
