SUV stolen, police pursuit ended in Royal Oak

An officer was dispatched to a home in the 900 block of Henrietta Street in Birmingham on Wednesday, May 25, on a vehicle theft report, where a resident reported his vehicle had been stolen from his driveway overnight.

The victim, a 53-year-old male, informed police it was possible he had left the vehicle unlocked with the keys inside.

A witness reported that a dark colored SUV pulled up in front of his residence nearby at approximately 5:23 a.m., at which time an unidentified male exited the SUV and approached his locked vehicle before returning to the SUV.

Dispatch advised that a vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle was involved in a pursuit with the Royal Oak Police Department, but that pursuit was terminated.

Birmingham police reported there are no additional witnesses or suspects at this time, and an investigation is ongoing.
