Suspected mercury spill clean up at Cranbrook

Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety responded to a possible mercury spill at Brookside School Cranbrook on Thursday, September 19, at 9:45 a.m., and requested the Oakland County Hazardous Materials team.

Bloomfield Hills police and fire personnel responded to the school, located at 550 Cranbrook Road, upon receiving the report from Cranbrook Security of a possible mercury spill, and were able to isolate the area, they said. Oakland County Hazardous Materials team was requested to the scene out of an abundance of caution, Bloomfield Hills Public Safety reported.

All appropriate protocols were followed to ensure the safety of the students, faculty and the Cranbrook community, officials said, but no further details were provided.
