Stumble on sidewalk leads to Birmingham arrest

A stumble on a sidewalk on the 200 block of S. Old Woodward in Birmingham on Thursday, November 28, ended with the arrest of a 24-year-old Commerce Township man for disorderly conduct.

While Birmingham police officers were patrolling on foot in the area, they heard an altercation and approached the scene. A 64-year-old resident told the officers that he and the man from Commerce Township were both walking on the sidewalk, but the other man had been walking backwards and almost collided with him. The Birmingham resident said he put his arms out to avoid colliding, which led to an argument between the two.

During the argument, the Commerce Township man allegedly hit the other man in the stomach. Birmingham police arrested the suspect for disorderly conduct.
