Serial thieves hit Birmingham jewelry store

:

Two men known to have committed thefts in Chicago and Wayne, Michigan, struck a Birmingham jewelry store located on the 100 block of Willits St. on Thursday, February 6, getting away with a watch valued at about $75,000.

Reporting the incident the next day, the store owner said that in the early afternoon the two men came into the store and were browsing the watches, allegedly separating the two employees to distract them. One of the men asked to see a watch and when he was returning it he asked to see another one. He was able to take the first watch while the employee was getting the second one he had requested.

Birmingham police officers confirmed that the men had also committed several similar thefts and they are investigating the recent incident.
