Restaurants fight for BirminghamBurger title
Everyone has their own favorite hamburger. But is there an actual best burger of Birmingham?
Actually – yes. And the inaugural BirminghamBURGER event will decide who has it.
The BirminghamBURGER event – a month-long competition beginning October 1, is bringing together the top chefs and culinary creators from downtown Birmingham's finest restaurants to compete for the title of Birmingham's Best Burger. Fifteen restaurants and their burger creations will compete.
According to the Birmingham Shopping District (BSD), which is sponsoring the competition, each restaurant's special recipe will bring its own unique ingredients to ignite the palette, fully immersing foodies and burger enthusiasts. Visit as many of the participating restaurants as you would like during the month of October, order their special burger and submit your ratings at ALLINBirmingham.com/burger. Burger prices start at $16 each and vary by restaurant.
Following the competition and final scoring, one restaurant will be awarded the coveted title of Birmingham’s Best Burger and presented with a trophy to display in their establishment.
Participating restaurants include 220, Adachi, Birmingham Pub, Casa Pernoi, Employee Meal, Griffin Claw Brewing Co., Hazel’s, Luxe Bar & Grill, Madam, Market North End, Rugby Grille, Sal’s, Sidecar, Social, Streetside Seafood, Tallulah Wine Bar & Bistro, and Townhouse Birmingham.
“We’re looking forward to October in downtown Birmingham,” said Erika Bassett, executive director of the BSD. “The BirminghamBURGER is creating quite the buzz both within the local community and among our restaurants. With so many participating restaurants and unique ingredient combinations, there is something everyone will love during this event.”
Chefs and restauranteurs are excited as well.
"This event not only highlights the restaurants but also contributes to the overall vibrancy and diversity of the downtown business community. By bringing people together to celebrate local chefs, we’re fostering a sense of connection with the community and collaboration among local businesses,” said Beth Hussey of Hazel’s.
