Preserve history with historical society at library

Bloomfield Township Public Library, along with Bloomfield Historical Society, will host a “History Harvest” on Sunday, November 10, from 1-4 p.m. to help collect preserve local history.

Members of the public are invited to participate in this unique opportunity to donate items that will assist in the preservation of Bloomfield community history while also receiving expert insight from the township's librarians.

Items of particular interest include local yearbooks, photographs, postcards, telephone directories, restaurant menus, and local publications including biographies and memoirs.

Members of the Bloomfield Historical Society will also be onsite to assist with research questions.

“Twenty years ago, when the Bloomfield Historical Society was formed, we found that we shared a common mission with the library’s local history collection to conserve our heritage. The library encouraged our partnership and we continue to volunteer time and knowledge of the history of the Bloomfield area to help build this important collection,” said Pam Carmichael, director and past president of Bloomfield Historical Society.

The public is welcome, and there is no prior registration necessary.
