Porch poachers strike multiple residences

Between Tuesday, November 26, and Monday, December 2, the Birmingham police department recorded three instances of packages being stolen from the front porch of city homes.

The first reported incident took place on Tuesday, November 26, although the report was not filed until the following day. According to the victim, a package had been delivered to his home around 12 p.m. but was stolen shortly afterward. Police said witnesses corroborated the theft, saying that an unknown man walked up to the victim’s house and took the package. The victim’s neighbor’s package was also stolen; however, a separate report wasn’t filed. The locations of the residences were not provided by Birmingham police.

Less than a week later, on Monday, December 2, a resident living on the 1000 block of Haynes Street also had a package stolen from the front porch. Police reported that witnesses confirmed seeing an unknown man in a white sedan parked near the victim’s home get out of the car and take the package.

Birmingham police say an investigation into both reports is ongoing.
