Outdoor table at restaurant scene of assault

Birmingham officers were dispatched on Friday, July 19, at approximately 9 p.m. to the 500 block of North Old Woodward Avenue, where a man picked a fight with someone sitting at an outdoor dining table of a local restaurant.

A 26-year-old victim from Orchard Lake was sitting outside the restaurant at a table when an unknown male suspect walked up to the victim’s table and put out his cigarette in a candle at the victim’s table. The victim addressed the suspect and shortly after the suspect punched the victim several times. The suspect then fled before police arrived.

Birmingham police said an investigation is ongoing.
