Long stolen motorcycle discovered during stop

A missing motorcycle from Burton that was first reported stolen two years ago was found by a Birmingham police officer on Friday, August 4, while making a traffic stop.

The officer reported seeing the license plates of the motorcycle bent back along the bottom of the seat during a stop on Woodward Avenue south of Emmons. He spoke with the motorcycle's owner and ran a background check which led him to discover the motorcycle had been reported stolen two years ago by the Burton Police Department.

According to reports, the owner claimed he bought the motorcycle off of Facebook Marketplace but couldn’t provide officers with information about the motorcycle’s seller.

Birmingham police said the vehicle was impounded and Burton police were notified. The case is under review for possible charges.
