Intoxicated man assaults phone store patrons

An employee of a phone store at Woodward and Humphrey Road in Birmingham was assaulted during the morning of Thursday, January 30, by a drunk patron for a reason unknown.

According to the employee, the suspect, a man from Berkeley, came into the store and assaulted him. Witnesses reportedly confirmed that the Berkley man initiated the assault, but no reason was indicated in the police report.

Birmingham police were later able to identify the suspect and noticed he was intoxicated. They placed him under arrest and gave him a citation for disorderly conduct, as well as assault and battery.
