Gun threat in traffic results in arrest, charges
A driver was arrested and charged with assault by Bloomfield Township police after two callers to 911 alerted them to an incident in which a male driver threatened a female driver with a gun in traffic.
On February 2, the Bloomfield Township Police department received two 911 calls pertaining to a possible assault involving a gun. The first call was from a witness who reported there was a gold Cadillac stopped in the middle of the road at the intersection of northbound Telegraph and Maple. The male driver of the Cadillac was holding a gun and telling a female, in a Tesla, “I’m going to take your life right now” and “act like I won’t take your life right now”.
The second 911 call was from the female victim who was driving the Tesla. The victim stated a man, driving a gold Cadillac, was angry at her because she honked at him when he cut her off and was now threatening her with a gun.
The witness and victim described the man as younger, in his 20’s and had dark eyes, eyebrows. They stated he was wearing a ski mask but the opening went around his forehead and chin and allowed them to see his face.
On February 4, the Bloomfield Township Police Department, with information provided through a license plate scanner, located the driver of the gold Cadillac, Mohamad Qasim Al-Amiri, at his home. They recovered a black plastic handgun under the driver’s seat of the gold Cadillac, as described by the victim and witness.
Mohamad Qasim Al-Amiri was arrested for assault.
The Oakland Country Prosecutor’s Office issued a one count arrest warrant for assault. Al-Amiri was arraigned on Wednesday, February 5, at the 48th District Court by Magistrate Nelson-Klein. Al-Amiri was issued a $10,000, 10 percent bond.
