Firearm possession, driving while intoxicated
A traffic stop in Birmingham in the early morning hours on Sunday, November 24, ended with an arrest for operating while intoxicated and possession of a firearm while under the influence.
At approximately 5 a.m., a patrolling Birmingham officer observed a vehicle with its headlights off fail to stop at a stop sign while turning right from northbound Pierce onto eastbound Maple.
After initiating a traffic stop, the officer detected signs of intoxication in the driver and conducted field sobriety evaluations. The driver, a 27-year-old Dearborn Heights man, advised the officer he had a firearm under the driver’s seat and said he had a valid Michigan concealed pistol license.
He was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
