Facebook Marketplace exchange goes sour

:

A Birmingham resident trying to sell a jacket on Facebook Marketplace on Thursday, January 9, allegedly had the merchandise stolen from the front porch of her home on the 400 block of Catalpa by her buyer.

The woman told Birmingham police that after negotiating a price with the buyer, she placed the jacket on her porch for an exchange. The buyer was told to leave the money under the front door mat when he came to pick up the jacket.

Reportedly, the man came to the house and showed the money to the doorbell camera, but he took off with both the jacket and the money.

Birmingham police say an investigation is ongoing.
