Elderly woman discovers money missing

A 97-year-old Birmingham woman living in the 100 block of Elm Street discovered money she kept stored in a locked filing cabinet was missing.


The woman discovered the theft of $120 on Friday, September 13, and called Birmingham police. She informed them that she keeps money stored in a locked filing cabinet but had discovered two weeks ago that $120 was missing.


She added that a cleaning crew is in her home once a week and she had not misplaced the money.


Birmingham police report an investigation is ongoing.
