Eight-hour DTE outage planned for Sunday

Residents living in parts of Birmingham, Bloomfield Township, Beverly Hills and Bingham Farms serviced by DTE's Westchester substation will experience an extended, planned power outage this Sunday, June 18, at 10 p.m., lasting for eight hours.

During the February ice storms, DTE's Westchester substation, located in Bloomfield Township, experienced significant damage. All permanent repairs were made other than with one piece of equipment. Due to the nature of the work required, DTE said they will need to de-energize the entire substation, reporting that if it were to remain energized, it could present a significant hazard to DTE workers.

All customers served by the substation will be affected by this outage. DTE will be sending voice messages to all affected customers using the phone number that they’ve provided to them, on Friday, June 16, beginning at 12 p.m.

DTE said they understand that this outage will be a great inconvenience to some and thanked everyone for their understanding. If you have any questions regarding this planned outage, please contact DTE at 800.477.4747.
