Car theft witnessed in downtown Birmingham

A man from Taylor reported that someone tried to steal his car on Friday, September 22, while it was parked on the 300 block of Pierce Street in Birmingham.

According to the victim, someone had attempted to steal his car, with witnesses reporting to police they saw a black SUV leave the scene. Birmingham police said they identified the car and tried to pull the drive over, but the suspect sped away.

An investigation is ongoing, per Birmingham police.
