Attempted break-in at Birmingham home

:

Birmingham police said someone on Saturday, April 30, attempted to break into a home in the 500 block of Wallace Street while the homeowners were away.

An officer responding about 8 a.m. to a complaint of a suspected break-in at the home arrived to speak with the homeowner, who said they were away the previous day and returned home to find the side door damaged. Police found a bag containing two lock strike plates and screws that had been left near the door.

No belongings were missing.

The incident is under investigation.
