Arrest made in bar after drunk altercation

While watching a sports game at a Birmingham bar near the 100 block of Willits Street on Wednesday, March 12, a resident was allegedly assaulted unprovoked by an intoxicated man who was sitting next to him.

The victim told Birmingham police that the man punched him in the shoulder while watching the game on TV at the bar. Birmingham police reported that the man has had several past public intoxication incidents in the city.

Police escorted him out of the bar and gave him a citation for disturbing the peace.
