Alcohol believed to be cause of fatal holiday crash

Alcohol is suspected to have been a factor in a fatal automobile crash which occurred the evening of Christmas Eve, Bloomfield Township police reported.

The accident took place in the area of W. Square Lake Road and Lasher Road in Bloomfield Township, where the victim – a 53-year-old Clarkston resident – was driving a 2017 Ford when he was hit by a Detroit resident, who is 37 and was driving a 2019 motor coach.

Bloomfield Township police reported that three people from the crash were transported to Trinity Health Oakland Hospital – two passengers from the motor coach, who reported non-critical injuries and were eventually discharged and the driver of the Ford, who had serious injuries from which he eventually succumbed on Sunday, December 31.

The Bloomfield Township police department is currently investigating the crash.

Those with information are asked to call 248.433.7755 and ask to speak with a member of their Traffic Investigation Unit.
