Thief attempts to raid safe at township store

Bloomfield Township police are investigating an attempted theft on Thursday, December 26, from a store safe at a local home goods store in the 2100 block of Telegraph. Officers responding about 9:45 p.m. to a theft complaint at At Home, 2101 Telegraph Road, Bloomfield Township, spoke to a manager who said someone had broken through the ceiling tiles in an office area of the store and disabled the store's security camera system. The manager said they received an alarm from one of the rear receiving doors. While checking the area, the manager found a chair on the top of a table in the employee break room along with a ceiling tile removed. The manager's office was checked. The manager told officers someone broke through the ceiling and attempted to break into the store safe. The person was unable to gain access to the safe. The store was open at the time of the incident. Police ask anyone with information to contact the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248.433.7755.
