Man steals lottery tickets from local gas station
Police are hoping the public will help investigators cash in on a theft investigation by assisting in identifying a man who stole more than $100 in lottery tickets on Monday, July 8, from a gas station in Bloomfield Township.
Bloomfield Township police said the theft occurred about 1:40 a.m. at the BP gas station, 6495 Telegraph Road, where the man asked to purchase 10 Club Keno EZ-pick lottery tickets worth $110, and a pack of cigarettes. The clerk told police the man attempted to pay with a credit card, but it didn't work. The man then went to his vehicle to retrieve cash but left gas station without the items.
Police said it wasn't until after the man left that he realized the lottery tickets on the counter were old and not the same that had just been printed. The clerk said he believes the man switched the old tickets for the new ones when he turned his back to retrieve the cigarettes.
The man was described as a white male, about 30 years old, with a thin build, blonde hair and a blond beard. He was wearing a black baseball cap and driving a black Honda Pilot.
Police ask anyone with information or able to identify the man to contact the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248.433.7755.
