Man arrested for shoplifting at Wal-Mart
A man accused of stealing about $60 in merchandise from a Rochester Hills Wal-Mart store on Thursday, August 23, was arrested by the sheriff's office and cited for retail fraud.
A sheriff's deputy responded about 12:18 p.m. to the report of a shoplifter at the store, 2500 S. Adams, who was stopped by a loss prevention employee.
The employee told the deputy he noticed the man acting suspicious and observed him as he went through the store. The man then allegedly put some items into his backpack before going into the bathroom and concealing additional items. The man exited the bathroom and attempted to leave without paying, according to authorities.
The items, which included a sweatshirt, pants, shirt, toothbrush and toothpaste and a pair of socks the man was wearing when he attempted to leave, were valued at $58.96.
The man was arrested and processed at the sheriff's Rochester Hills substation, then cited for retail fraud and released.
